Longing for the Green Green Grass!

Hi guys it’s your favourite blogger here again, with all the news from the stables here at Calvert Trust Exmoor!

It’s been really cold here but at least it’s not been raining!

The trouble is the grass isn’t growing because it’s so cold; which means we’re all still having haylage in the field rather than being able to pick at the new grass! :-(

I’ve heard talk that it’s going to get warmer…

...but often that means it gets wetter!

Guest Blogger Brin 4: Rugs

Hi there, it’s me, Brin with another instalment of my time here at Calvert Trust Exmoor.

Pilgrim & I were chatting the other day – our stables are next door to each other so we can keep in touch.    We were talking about our rugs & how they keep us nice & warm when he said something like ‘do you remember when you kept breaking you rugs?’

Well, I’m not going to point my hoof at anyone in particular…

….but I will simply say that since I’ve been in the field with Duke (& nobody else) my rug has stayed in one piece. In fact there’s hardly a mark on it!

I think it’s enough for me to say that some horses tend to get a little carried away when they are playing!   It’s not my fault that their teeth & hooves are sharper than mine, is it?

Guest Blogger Brin 3: Its all in the eyes

Pilgrim said I could do the blog again, so here I am! (It’s Brin, in case you’ve forgotten!)

I’ve had another good week at the stables, I’ve met lots of different people & worked with them in the school and we’ve been outside.

I’ve heard a few people comment on my eyes; I’m quite unusual as both of my eyes are blue. One of the other horses, Hendrix, has just one blue eye which is more common.  I haven’t said this to him though as he’s one of my best friends; after Pilgrim of course!

Handsome chap aren't I!

Pilgrm & Bailey on a min-holiday

Hi guys, it’s me again, your mini reporter!

Brin did OK for a first go at a blog, didn’t he? He was a bit nervous to start but by his second go I could tell he was getting into it!  He told me he’d like to do another one soon – that’s fine by me!

A bit of news: Bailey & me have moved to a different field, it’s the one we were in when we had our holiday. It’s got a great view of the reservoir, but what’s better than that is the big wall that shelters us from the wind!

At least it’s stopped raining……

……for now, anyway!

Guest Blogger Brin 2: Getting Busier

Hi, it’s me again, Brin.

Pilgrim said I did OK for my first blog, but I should tell you a bit more about what’s going on.

Well I can tell you that we are getting busier and I’m enjoying meeting lots of new people.  I like working with my friends & love going in the outdoor school; a big space for a big horse!

Me in the Outdoor School

Sometimes we go along the track by the reservoir; I get the feeling that this is something everyone enjoys, people and horses.

I love this view from the reservoir track

Overall life here at the Calvert Trust Exmoor is good and certainly never boring!

Guest Blogger Brin 1: Ready to do my bit

Hello everybody, its Brin here, ready to do my bit on Pilgrim’s blog.

Me in the Menage
I’m sure Pilgrim’s told you a lot about me – I remember seeing that photo of me & him in the field; talk about little & large!

Well, what more can I tell you?   I’m doing well here at Calvert Trust Exmoor, working with the rest of the team to give our guests a fun time at the stables.

I get lots of good food & as well as Pilgrim, I’ve made some good friends.   At the moment I’m sharing a field with Duke; have you met him?  Well, let me tell you he knows everything there is to know about this job – he’s been here at Calvert Trust Exmoor longer than anyone!

In fact, I think he should do the blog; the stories he could tell!

Got to go but I’ll write again soon, bye for now.

Back in Full Swing

Hi there everyone! You’ve probably noticed I’ve been a bit quiet these last few weeks – that’s not like me at all!

Anyway I’m in full swing now & want to tell you that Brin is going to do some of the blog for me.

He said he didn’t want to take it over for a whole week as he wasn’t sure he’d have enough to tell you!

I’m sure he’ll be great!
